The aim of the Port of Oulu PORT OULU Smarter. digital project is to develop and promote utilisation of modern port digitalisation between Port of Oulu customers and actors. A new type of data platform is being set up jointly in a multiactor environment to collect data about functions and the situational picture in the Port. The activities aimed at developing digital infrastructure in the area also include solutions for local connectivity needs, which merge the transport and communication services in the port area into a seamless whole.

The real-time digital situational picture of the Port of Oulu makes extensive use of both local and visiting transport and operational actors. In addition to area supervision and traffic control, the data generated is used in area planning and optimisation of storage fields and berths.

With digital development work, the Port of Oulu gets ready to welcome autonomous modes transport by sea, rail and road in the future.
