Dredging of harbor basins continues in Vihreäsaari

The maintenance dredging of the harbor basins in the port of Oulu continues in Vihreäsaari harbor basin in week 19 (May 8, 2023).

The approximately 500m3 left over from last fall’s suspended dredging is being dredged from the pool. The dredging work is supposed to be completed during May. The dredging work is carried out under the conditions of shipping, so the dredging work has no impact on shipping.

The Oritkari basin has an estimated 33,000 m3 of maintenance dredging needs. Maintenance dredging of Oritkari will be carried out in the fall of 2023 when the water permit is legally binding.

Dredging is done by bucket dredging. The dredged masses are transported by barges to the dumping basin, which is located in the Orikari harbor area.

The dredging contractor is R-Towing Oy, which has a lot of dredging experience and knows the Oulu harbor area and operating methods. The dredging vessels are on duty on VHF ch 8 and 67.
